New Tactics for Preventing Burglary: Chinese Homeowners Favor Smoke Generators

California has been hit by a spree of robberies and thefts in recent days, leaving both residents and businesses feeling helpless amid the heavy losses. To address this issue, some businesses have introduced smoke diffusers with the hope of driving away thieves promptly and protecting personal property and safety.

On July 24th, a Chinese community organization invited a representative from the manufacturer to demonstrate the functionality of the smoke diffuser to the public.

The representative from the manufacturer, Jay Dyer, explained that this newly introduced anti-theft device in the United States needs to be connected to the alarm system. When burglars break in for a robbery, the alarm will immediately trigger the smoke diffuser to rapidly release a large amount of smoke. Within seconds, the intruders will find themselves engulfed in smoke, completely obstructing their vision.

Simultaneously, the homeowner will receive an immediate alarm notification to alert the authorities, thereby thwarting the theft attempt. “Thieves may flee immediately, and if they do not, they will be caught,” Dyer said. “The smoke will linger suspended in the air for at least 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the indoor ventilation. Once the smoke dissipates, there will be no traces left, and no residues to clean up.”

However, many people have expressed concerns about whether this type of smoke may have a health impact. Dyer clarified that the composition of the smoke released by the smoke diffuser is nearly identical to the one used in nightclubs and theaters, mainly comprising propylene glycol and water, making it completely harmless.

At the event, many individuals showed considerable interest in this new technology. Meanwhile, there is also a collective desire for California to fundamentally change its lenient policies towards criminals.

The president of the American Tainan Association, Jun-Cheng Su, told reporters that his shop has been robbed multiple times, stating, “So I think this is very much needed. I believe it’s not only necessary in the store but also for installation at home.”

Guan Yixiu, the head of the “Community Security Everyone’s Responsibility” organization, believes that citizens not only need to seek ways to protect their safety and property but also actively participate in voting to prevent the government from introducing bad laws. By electing officials and supporting referendums that are most beneficial to community safety, they can fundamentally curb crime.
