Luck seems to be contagious. In the state of Nebraska, USA, a father and son recently won lottery prizes consecutively within 2 months. The father won a prize of $120,000 by purchasing a lottery ticket, while his son won $100,000 two months ago by buying a scratch-off lottery ticket.
According to the Associated Press, Douglas Dahl, a resident of Grand Island, Nebraska, previously bought 5 Pick 5 lottery tickets at a local store, with one of them matching the winning numbers 13, 22, 29, 31, and 36, resulting in him winning the $120,000 grand prize.
Dahl stated that he has a habit of buying lottery tickets regularly, so when he realized he won, he felt like “it’s about time” and plans to continue buying lottery tickets in the future.
He revealed while claiming his prize that his son had bought a scratch-off lottery ticket two months earlier and won a $100,000 prize, showing that luck runs in the family.
On the other side of the globe in Taiwan, a lucky father and son also won a prize of 1 million New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) by purchasing a scratch-off lottery ticket last year.
Reported by the Liberty Times, the Taiwan Lottery Corporation introduced the “12 Million Good Fortune” scratch-off lottery ticket during the Lunar New Year in 2023, and a lottery store in Shulin District, New Taipei City, awarded the second prize of 1 million NTD.
The store owner mentioned that on the morning of Chinese New Year’s Eve (January 21st), a man around 40 years old with his approximately 7-year-old son was waiting at the bus stop outside the lottery store. Due to the bus being delayed, his son became restless and demanded to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket to play with.
The man initially intended to buy a 2,000 NTD denomination ticket, but his son insisted on a 1,000 NTD “12 Million Good Fortune” ticket and wanted to scratch it inside the store. Unexpectedly, they scratched off the 1 million NTD second prize. The man’s attitude immediately changed from impatience to joy, and his expression transformed.
Excitedly, the man mentioned that due to the bus delay and his child’s insistence on buying the 1,000 NTD scratch-off ticket, winning the million-dollar prize was truly a case of “fate at work.”
