Car Falls Into River in Kangding, Sichuan, 6 Missing Including 9-Year-Old Child.

On the last day of the National Day holiday, a car fell into a river while passing through Kangding City, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan, resulting in 6 people missing, including a 9-year-old child and an engaged couple. Currently, neither the vehicle nor the individuals have been found.

Sichuan resident Ms. Wang publicly appealed for help on October 11. On October 7, her sister-in-law’s family of 6 were traveling through Kangding City when their vehicle plunged into the river. Ms. Wang hopes that the missing persons can be found soon.

Ms. Wang told Jiexin News that the 6 relatives who went missing in the river were all traveling together, including the engaged couple and the 9-year-old child. The engaged couple was about to get their marriage certificate. On the day of the incident, the groom-to-be was driving, with the bride-to-be in the passenger seat, and the other passengers were all relatives, including her sister.

At around 6 a.m. on October 7, the group set off and when they reached a bend in Kangding, the vehicle veered off the road and fell into the river. Subsequently, the authorities and firefighters confirmed the section of the road where the incident occurred through monitoring the route and finding a side mirror along the riverbank.

Ms. Wang explained that the engaged couple had already met with their parents and were on their way back to the groom’s home when the accident happened. She said, “There were two cars that day, one left in the early morning, and the other left around eight o’clock. Those who departed later arrived at the groom’s home to find the door locked and couldn’t find anyone. It was only after investigation that they discovered they had fallen into the river.”

Ms. Wang mentioned that the river at the accident site is 7-8 meters deep and quite wide, and due to upstream rain causing the water level to rise, the search operations are challenging. Several rescue teams have been dispatched to conduct search efforts, but the specific location of the vehicle has not yet been confirmed.

According to Daxiang News, the Kangding City Fire Rescue Brigade reported that they have participated in the search and found some remnants of the vehicle, but there hasn’t been any clear progress in the rescue efforts so far.
