On the morning of September 3rd, the Chinese Communist Party held a grand ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Anti-Japanese War and a military parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. During a routine press conference on the same day, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Lin Fang was asked about his thoughts on the event. Lin stated that the Japanese government is closely monitoring the situation but avoided commenting on the intentions of the Chinese side.
Lin emphasized that Japan is determined to never repeat the mistakes of war and has been committed to the path of a peaceful nation since the end of the war. He stressed that Japan has communicated this stance to China on multiple occasions.
However, regarding the expansion of military activities by the Chinese Communist Party in the vicinity of Japan, Lin also stated that Japan will not tolerate any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo through the use of force. He mentioned that Japan will continue to closely monitor military developments around Japan and maintain a calm and firm response posture.
Lin further highlighted that Japan will actively strengthen its defense capabilities based on national defense strategy and other guidelines. This proactive stance aims to fundamentally enhance Japan’s defense forces.
