On April 30, Wang Jianjun, a member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), was officially announced to have been placed under investigation.
The official announcement from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on the evening of April 30 stated that Wang Jianjun, a member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the CSRC, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently under investigation.
The CSRC is a direct agency of the State Council of the CCP, with an administrative level equivalent to that of a ministerial department. The administrative level of the members of the Party Committee and Vice Chairmen of the CSRC is that of a deputy ministerial department.
Wang Jianjun, born in March 1968 in Langzhong, Sichuan, started working in July 1991 and joined the CCP in October 1994.
Wang Jianjun entered the CSRC in April 1997 and served in various positions until April 2016. He has held positions such as cadre of the Issuance Department, Deputy Director of the General Office, Director of the Integrated Department of the Issuance Supervision Department, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Yunnan Regulatory Bureau of the CSRC, Deputy Director of the General Office, Deputy Director of the Party Committee Office, Deputy Director and later Director of the Market Supervision Department, Director of the General Office, and Director of the Party Committee Office.
From July 2014 to March 2015, Wang Jianjun also served as the Director of the CCP CSRC Research Center and the Director of the Beijing Securities and Futures Research Institute.
From April 2016 to October 2021, Wang Jianjun served successively as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Manager, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (deputy ministerial level).
In October 2021, Wang Jianjun was appointed as a member of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the CCP CSRC.
