On Wednesday, April 23rd, a team composed of Moroccan pastry chefs and French chefs joined forces to create a strawberry cake measuring over 121 meters in length, successfully breaking the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Strawberry Cake”.
According to media reports, Youssef El Gatou, a pastry chef from Morocco now living in France, operates a bakery called “La Maison Heloise” in the small town of Argenteuil, located in the northern suburbs of Paris. To fulfill his childhood dream of setting a record, he recently invited 20 skilled pastry chefs and chefs to participate in this challenge.
The team utilized 4,000 eggs, 350 kilograms of strawberries, 150 kilograms of sugar, and 415 kilograms of cream to create this giant cake, which took a week to complete and weighed a total of 1.2 tons. To ensure the freshness of the cream and strawberries, the pastry chefs specifically chose an ice rink in the town of Argenteuil as the location for the cake-making process.
Guinness World Record judges were present to confirm the cake’s length at 121.88 meters and awarded Youssef El Gatou an official certificate for breaking the Guinness World Record. The previous record of 100.48 meters was set by a group of Italian pastry chefs in the Italian town of San Mauro Torinese in 2019.
Reports indicate that the event attracted a large crowd of spectators. After the verification process, each person received a piece of the delicious cake to enjoy.
