A 24-year-old dance teacher in Changsha, Hunan was tragically killed when she was run over by a school bus from Hunan Normal University while riding her electric bike to teach her students. Eyewitnesses questioned the school bus driver’s actions, alleging that after rear-ending the victim for no apparent reason, the driver did not brake and ultimately rolled over the victim, causing her death.
On March 12th, a netizen named “我愛小狗” posted on social media that the 24-year-old dance teacher was crushed to death by a school bus. Five days have passed since the incident, but there have been no developments in the case.
According to a person familiar with the matter, Zhou Dan, who spoke to Dafeng News on March 13th, the dance teacher who was fatally crushed was named Zhao Xin (pseudonym). Around noon on March 8th, she was riding her electric bike to her students, wearing a bright blue helmet, on Fenglin Road in Yuelu District, Changsha.
“It was a straight road, not a turn,” Zhou Dan said. She and Zhao Xin’s family saw the video footage provided by the police, showing that “at the time of the incident, the school bus was driving behind Zhao Xin, continuously getting closer to her, and following very closely, ultimately squeezing Zhao Xin and another electric bike to the side of the road.”
Zhou Dan expressed disbelief that despite wearing a bright blue helmet, Zhao Xin, who was visible, was not seen by the driver on the straight road. The driver rear-ended Zhao Xin without braking immediately, rolling over her before coming to a stop.
The video footage provided by Zhou Dan at the scene of the accident shows a person wearing a blue helmet lying on the side of the road, with a fallen electric bike nearby and several delivery workers watching from the roadside.
Some netizens commented in the video section that the accident site was near a hospital. However, the hospital’s medical records showed that Zhao Xin was not taken to the hospital until 30 minutes after being hit, with no signs of life upon arrival, as both blood oxygen and heartbeat indicators were at zero.
In response, a staff member from the Logistics Management Department of Hunan Normal University stated that the incident was under a unified statement from the Publicity Department, saying, “We will not make any public comments on this matter.” When contacted by Dafeng News, the school’s Publicity Department staff said they were not aware of the incident.
The Traffic Police Brigade of Yuelu District stated that it was inconvenient to disclose further details of the case.
A netizen who posted a memorial to Zhao Xin on social media told Dafeng News that after sharing relevant information, police officers from the Traffic Police Brigade of Yuelu District sent her private messages requesting the removal of the posts. At present, the post has been deleted.
