Former Vice Governor of Heilongjiang, Wang Yixin, Indicted for Accepting Huge Sums of Money

Recently, Wang Yixin, former Standing Committee member of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor, has been prosecuted for his involvement in power-for-sex and money-for-sex trades, as well as illegal acceptance of huge sums of money. According to the latest report from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the Chinese Communist Party on November 26, Wang Yixin held positions as Vice Governor in Shanxi Province and engaged in unethical activities leading to his prosecution.

Public information reveals that Wang Yixin, aged 59, has held various positions in Hainan, Shanxi, and Heilongjiang. By the end of 2021, he moved from his position as Vice Governor of Shanxi to become the Deputy Governor of Heilongjiang. In March 2022, he was appointed as a Standing Committee member of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Governor.

Wang Yixin was investigated on December 8 last year, placed under shuangkai (an internal disciplinary procedure of the CCP) on June 17 this year, and arrested on July 2.

Since the 20th National Congress of the CCP, Heilongjiang has seen five senior officials under central management being investigated. Apart from Wang Yixin, others include Li Xianguang, former Deputy Director of the Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee; Li Haitao and Qu Min, former Deputy Chairpersons of the Provincial Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; and Zhang Xiaolian, Deputy Director of the Economic Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
