Recently, a tourist bus lost control and crashed down a mountain road in the Emeishan Scenic Area. The bus, carrying 5 people, resulted in 3 fatalities and 2 injuries.
On October 28th, a netizen posted a video online claiming that a tourist bus in the Emeishan Scenic Area plunged off the mountain, with some individuals likely injured. A witness filming on the scene stated, “There was a major accident at Emeishan, 4 people died in this bus.”
The circulated video depicted a person trapped under the front of the vehicle, showing only a leg. Inside the bus, a middle-aged man appeared to be injured, attempting to jump out of the window, with all the glass on the left side of the bus shattered. Several onlookers were present at the accident site, with witnesses visibly shocked by the scene.
According to reports from mainland media, the involved vehicle belonged to the Emeishan First Automobile Transport Company, not a sightseeing bus in the scenic area. At the time of the accident, there were 5 people on board, all residents of Emeishan. The accident occurred on E’ehong Road, a county road connecting the Emeishan City and Hongya County in Meishan City. The speed limit on the section where the accident happened was not supposed to exceed 40 kilometers per hour.
Personnel on site of the accident stated that the vehicle veered off the mountain road, initially hitting the right side of the mountain, losing control and then crashing into the left side guardrail. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at a “somewhat fast” speed at the time of the accident.
After the incident, the Emeishan Municipal Committee’s Propaganda Department announced on its official WeChat account that around 1:40 pm on October 28th, a traffic accident occurred at 18KM+700M of E’ehong Road in Yellow Bay Town, Emeishan City, Sichuan Province. The accident resulted in 3 fatalities and 2 injuries, with the injured already taken to the hospital for treatment. The vehicle involved in the accident belonged to the Emeishan City First Automobile Transport Company, with a capacity of 30 people but was carrying 5 individuals. The accident investigation is currently underway.
