Car loses control when exiting garage in Chongqing, injuring multiple pedestrians.

On July 17th, a traffic accident occurred near the Yadlan Electronic Market at Jiefangbei in Chongqing at noon, resulting in multiple injuries.

A viral video showed a black sedan parked on the side of the road, with a man leaning against the car sitting on the ground, blood stains visible on his mouth and nose. Nearby, a girl was lying on the ground with blood flowing far along the road.

In addition, there were three people sitting on the ground by the roadside. A man in the video said, “It’s over, it’s over, hit so many people.”

Screenshots of a group chat circulating online showed messages like “Big accident at Jiefangbei, killed a few people, road blocked,” and “The car lost control.” Some netizens commented that you can’t just come out of the parking garage anywhere, you have to consider the environment, especially in Yuzhong District, where most exit ramps are uphill.

According to a report by Cover News, several nearby shop owners revealed that the vehicle involved lost control when exiting the parking garage across the street, hitting multiple pedestrians, including one woman who suffered more serious injuries.

The owner of a noodle shop next to the parking lot said, “The (involved) car came out of the parking garage and rushed out all of a sudden, it happened to be during the lunch rush hour, hitting several pedestrians.”

A witness from the nearby Yadlan Electronic Market described that the accident occurred around noon, with multiple injuries including the driver, passengers, three men sitting by the roadside, a woman lying in the middle of the road, and a food delivery rider.

Workers at a convenience store in the area also mentioned that several people, including passengers in the car and pedestrians, were injured, with one female student sustaining more serious injuries while others mostly suffered minor scrapes.

Public records show that Yadlan Electronic City (Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street branch) is a digital electronics store located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing.

In response to the incident, the Yuzhong District Branch of Chongqing Public Security Bureau announced that around noon on that day, a traffic accident occurred on Zhengyang Street in Yuzhong District. The driver, a 49-year-old woman named Deng, collided with pedestrians due to “improper operation” at the exit of the parking garage, resulting in “3 injuries.” Currently, “the injured are not in life-threatening condition, Deng has been ruled out for suspected drunk or drugged driving,” and the accident is under further investigation.

However, the number of injured individuals reported in the official notification is significantly fewer than what eyewitnesses at the scene had described. Some netizens criticized, “Blaming it on improper operation when something happens, where were you when getting your driver’s license, driving courses are causing harm.”
