Shenzhen neighborhood hit by burst water pipe, causing a raging river and flooding multiple shops

In the late night of April 15th, a water pipe suddenly burst in Hubei New Village on Aiguo Road, Huangbei Street, Luohu District, Shenzhen, causing flooding in many nearby shops and a large number of vehicles.

A viral video online showed that the scene turned into a rushing river, with many shops and vehicles submerged.

According to a report by Southern Metropolis Daily N Video, several shop owners confirmed that the water pipe burst around 11:50 pm on the 15th. Mr. Huang, a shop owner, said that he suddenly heard noises outside the store and saw that the area outside had turned into a river of yellow water. The water quickly flowed into the store, and within minutes, the water level inside the store rose to 20 centimeters high. He urgently moved the store’s goods to higher ground, and only a small amount of merchandise was washed away by the water.

The shop closest to the burst water pipe stated that the impact of the water flow was strong, causing the refrigerator inside the shop to tip over, and cars parked next to the shop were also flooded.

Around 2:30 am on the 16th, a nearly 3-meter diameter crater was washed out by the flowing water at the burst site. By then, the water flow had stopped, and the accumulated water in Hubei New Village had receded.

Due to the impact of the water flow, the surrounding tiles at the burst location of the pipe were also damaged and cracked, with several roads in Hubei New Village filled with 10 to 20 centimeters of mud. The road closest to Aiguo Road suffered the most severe impact, with multiple storefronts facing the street submerged in water. As of 3 am, several shop owners were still on-site cleaning up. In addition, electric bicycles parked on the roadside and vehicles parked inside the village were also affected to varying degrees.

However, as of now, relevant departments have not yet reported on the accident, and the specific losses are unclear.
