On November 9th, a Chinese tourist in South Korea was suspected of using a drone to film the National Intelligence Service and was arrested for investigation. Currently, the tourist has been released, but is banned from leaving the country as the interrogation is still ongoing.
According to the Korea JoongAng Daily, Seoul police arrested a Chinese male tourist in his forties on November 9th for allegedly using a drone to film the National Intelligence Service, violating the Aviation Safety Law. The case is currently under investigation.
It was reported that around 3 p.m. on the 9th, the man was filming a tourist spot in the Seocho District using a drone and was questioned for filming the nearby National Intelligence Service building.
On the evening of November 10th, the man was released.
A police officer stated, “We plan to continue questioning the suspect without detention.” He mentioned that the man has been prohibited from leaving the country.
