Melania supports abortion rights, Trump responds.

In a recent development, Melania Trump, the wife of the U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, has expressed her support for women’s abortion rights in her upcoming memoir. She stated in a video released on Thursday (October 3) that when it comes to women’s “personal freedom,” there should be no room for compromise. Melania revealed in an interview with the UK’s The Guardian on the 2nd that she will advocate for women’s rights to “personal freedom” in her memoir, particularly emphasizing women’s autonomy over their own bodies. She believes that the decision to terminate a pregnancy should be made jointly by women and doctors, ensuring that women can make choices based on their beliefs without government interference or pressure.

“I have held this belief throughout my adult life,” she wrote. “Why should anyone else, other than the women themselves, have the right to dictate how women’s bodies should be treated? Women’s fundamental rights of personal freedom empower them with the right to terminate a pregnancy, it’s a choice, and women should have the right to make that decision according to their wishes.”

In a subsequent video, Melania stated, “Personal freedom is a fundamental principle I stand by. When it comes to the inherent rights of all women – personal freedom, there can be no compromise. What does ‘my body, my choice’ truly mean?”

With only one month left until the U.S. presidential election, Melania openly supporting abortion rights, contrary to her husband’s position, has drawn attention from the public. Melania is set to release her memoir next Tuesday (October 8). These views sharply contrast with Trump’s and the Republican Party’s anti-abortion stance.

On Thursday, Trump mentioned that he had discussed the book with his wife and advised her to “follow her heart.” “We talked about this. I told her, you have to write what you believe. I won’t tell you what to do. You have to write what you believe,” Trump told Fox News. “On this issue, some people hold extreme views, advocating for no abortions under any circumstances, while others hold different opinions.”

Trump has often cited overturning the Supreme Court decision of “Roe v. Wade” as an achievement during his presidency. However, Trump has stated that if re-elected, he would overturn the federal abortion ban and believes this issue should be left to state legislatures.
