Woman from Weifang spends 30,000 yuan to have double eyelid surgery, eyes and corners of eyes sewn together

Recently, Ms. Zhang from Weifang, Shandong, disclosed online that during a double eyelid surgery at a beauty salon, the doctor accidentally sewed her eyeball and eye corner together. This incident gained attention on August 20th with the trending topic “Woman claims to spend 30,000 for eye surgery, ends up with eyeball and eye corner sewn together”.

According to a report from “Sohu Qianliyan”, on August 17th, Ms. Zhang from Weifang, Shandong, revealed that in 2021 she spent 30,000 RMB on double eyelid surgery. During the procedure, due to a difference in the opening of one outer eye corner, the doctor suggested making an adjustment. However, during the stitching process, she felt discomfort in her eyeball, and after the stitches were removed, it was discovered that her eyeball and eye corner were connected. The director of the clinic where the surgery took place said, “It’s okay, I’ll just cut it open for you.”

“6 or 7 days later, they grew back together again, and this time with extra growth, making it difficult to even move my eyeball.” Ms. Zhang requested the clinic to compensate her with 30,000 RMB as she needed to undergo surgery at a different hospital in another province. However, her request was denied by the clinic. After several negotiations, the clinic finally agreed to compensate her with only 10,000 RMB.

Ms. Zhang expressed, “10,000 RMB is not even enough for the travel cost to Shanghai.” Subsequently, the clinic delayed the reimbursement for various reasons, dragging on for three years.

Ms. Zhang mentioned that she now has blurry vision, can only alleviate discomfort with eye drops, dares not move her eyeball, and doesn’t even want to go out anymore, leading to severe depression and hair loss.

Following the exposure of the incident, it has drawn widespread attention. The plastic surgery clinic involved has not responded to the incident.

Netizens commented, “I can feel the pain even through the screen.” “Wow, the needle pierced the eyeball, it’s so terrifying, it’s a miracle that it didn’t cause blindness.” “With such a big mistake, shouldn’t the hospital take responsibility?”

Some netizens stated, “A large part of personnel in aesthetic institutions experiment with unqualified practices, receiving only a few months of training before starting work. A friend of mine used to work at such an institution. Therefore, when considering plastic surgeries, it’s crucial to seek professional doctors in reputable hospitals.”
