Taiwan Taoyuan Airport VIP Lounge Launches Night Market Festival, Inviting Travelers to Savor Before Boarding

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) Terminal 2, the “Eastern Euphoria VIP Lounge,” is hosting the “Taiwan Night Market Festival” from now until December 31. The airport is bringing classic night market snacks indoors, allowing travelers not only to wait for their flights but also to experience the delicious food and culture of Taiwan’s night markets. Additionally, the “Global Feast at the Airport Table by Shilla Duty Free” organized by Shilla Duty Free is also taking place at TPE. It is the first time that a Taiwanese-style dining event is held in the restricted area, featuring street food, Taiwanese snacks, live performances, and offering a new experience of traditional dining culture at the gateway of Taiwan.

According to the official website of the Eastern Euphoria VIP Lounge at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2, Taiwan, the heart of Asia, is a treasure trove of Eastern cultures, blending the cultures of the Pacific Islands, the 5,000-year-old Chinese culture, the new immigrant cultures of Southeast Asia, and the global technological and information culture of the 21st century. The VIP lounge, symbolized by the native treasure-level bird of Taiwan, the “Taiwan Blue Magpie,” unfolds its colorful and abundant wings to welcome guests to experience the mystery and nobility of Eastern culture, as well as the brilliance and vibrancy of the island’s culture.

In order to allow passengers to relish the culture of Taiwan’s night markets before boarding, the Eastern Euphoria VIP Lounge at Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2 announced on the 15th that, during the Taiwan Night Market Festival period, in addition to the existing cuisine, the lounge is also featuring limited special dishes such as peanut and coriander blood cake, salt and pepper chicken, pork sausage wrapped in sticky rice, black sugar tofu pudding, and mini scallion pancakes. These are accompanied by classic Taiwanese dishes like beef noodles, braised pork rice, and xiao long bao, as well as a collaborative breakfast set with the brand “Lao Jiang Jia” offering rice balls with soy milk to ensure that no visitor leaves Taiwan with an empty stomach.

Besides the night market delicacies, the Eastern Euphoria VIP Lounge has recreated a night market street scene at the entrance with local signs, vintage mirrors, and a tofu pudding stall, along with a photo area where all outgoing passengers are invited to take pictures. Eligible VIP lounge guests will also receive tokens to use at the “Taiwanese Snack Encyclopedia” capsule vending machine, where they can randomly obtain limited edition night market snack illustrations.

According to the lounge, a survey by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation indicates that over 80% of tourists visiting Taiwan consider “food” as their most unforgettable experience, with nearly 90% having visited night markets. In Travelbag’s 2026 global night market ranking, Shilin and Ningxia Night Markets are ranked 5th and 6th respectively, making Taiwan the only country with two night markets in the top 10. By focusing on the trend of “traveling for food,” this themed experience aims to allow travelers to savor the lively flavors of Taiwan’s night markets before departing.

Furthermore, on the 16th at noon, the “Global Feast at the Airport Table” organized by Shilla Duty Free took place at TPE. It was inaugurated by Minister of Transportation Chen Shih-kai, Chairman of Taoyuan International Airport Company Chen Yan-bo, Director of the Tourism Bureau Chen Yu-xiu, among others, who donned aprons and served dishes table by table. This event integrates the airport’s specialty dining with a Taiwanese-style dining event held in the restricted area, featuring street food, Taiwanese snacks, and live performances, providing a fresh experience of traditional dining culture at the gateway to Taiwan.

Minister Chen Shih-kai mentioned that when hosting foreign friends in Taiwan, he often prepares a culinary map because “food is Taiwan’s business card,” and now visitors can enjoy local delicacies from different regions even at the airport. Dining at the table is a unique dining culture of Taiwan. The airport is not just a transportation hub but also the front line for global exchange. Bringing the table culture to the airport this time is a practical effort by the public and private sectors to promote tourism. It is hoped that in the future, more efforts from both sectors will transform TPE into a gateway for the world to get to know Taiwan.

Jiang Chien-ting, General Manager of Shilla Duty-Free Shop, emphasized that food is the most direct cultural experience for travelers to get to know Taiwan. Since obtaining the operating rights of Terminal 2C in 2018, they have expanded the 4th-floor dining plaza, created the C3 “Street Corner Fun” waiting lounge, introduced Taiwanese cuisine, specialty coffee, and Michelin recommended restaurants, following the planning concept of the ROT project for comprehensive duty-free shops in Zone C. Together with the globally pioneering reality show “Global Feast at the Airport Table” from Sanli TV, they aim to use the airport as a gateway to promote Taiwanese cuisine and tourism.

Jiang Chien-ting noted that the “TPE Joint Dining Table Menu” was crafted by “Chef An” Hong Chun-nan from the reality show “Global Feast at the Airport Table.” Authors Yang Shuang-zi, table tennis player Gao Cheng-rui, YouTubers, and others were invited to attend the event. The menu features popular airport dishes such as stewed goose with chef Ah-cheng and Ruiji Hainan chicken, along with salted egg cakes, sweet potato balls, wheel cakes, and black sugar milk tea. From traditional dining dishes to familiar Taiwanese snacks, guests at TPE can taste the flavors of Taiwan as they enter the airport.
