A male suspect in Turkey managed to escape justice by disguising himself as a woman using the art of “disguise” after being sentenced by the court, but his actions eventually caught up with him leading to his arrest and imprisonment.
According to the “Daily Beirut” website, the story begins back in 2018 when the man named Turul Bar was sentenced to jail for three cases involving theft and impersonating a public official.
Rather than surrendering, Bar chose an extreme plan of going into hiding, making his male identity completely disappear. He was aware that official photos retained by the police could expose him, so he underwent a thorough makeover of his facial features, hairstyle, and clothing style, presenting himself as a woman in his daily activities to prevent security personnel from linking his new appearance to the old photos.
In addition to the physical disguise, he also obtained his sister’s identity documents, calmly showing them to security personnel at checkpoints, successfully bypassing the verification system.
Despite living as a woman in Istanbul for 8 years, a minor financial mistake by Bar led to his tracks being revealed, and he was discovered by sharp-eyed criminal intelligence officers.
Authorities learned that someone in the upscale district of Kadıköy was conducting credit card transactions and related financial activities in the name of Bar’s sister, but official records confirmed that she was abroad at the time.
Law enforcement then conducted covert surveillance on the location before storming in and arresting the man disguised as a woman. Through fingerprint matching, the police confirmed he was indeed Bar and his attempt to conceal his identity instantly crumbled.
Bar was promptly incarcerated. Meanwhile, the prosecution launched a new criminal investigation against him for suspected identity fraud and document forgery, indicating he will face harsher penalties and an extended prison term as a result.
