Former Deputy Minister of the CCP Central Propaganda Department Zhang Jianchun Arrested on Suspicion of Bribery.

Former Deputy Minister of the Chinese Communist Party Central Propaganda Department, Zhang Jianchun, has been arrested on suspicion of bribery.

The Supreme People’s Procuratorate’s website reported on December 31 that the investigation into Zhang Jianchun’s alleged bribery case has concluded and has been referred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution. Recently, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate made the decision to arrest Zhang Jianchun on suspicion of bribery.

Zhang Jianchun, 59 years old this year, was investigated while in office back in June. On December 10, he was expelled from the Party and had his qualifications as a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party revoked.

Zhang Jianchun has been accused of being disloyal and dishonest to the Chinese Communist Party. He allegedly accepted entertainment, accommodation, travel arrangements that could affect the fair execution of public duties, used housing provided by management and service entities without charge, accepted gifts and money, abused his position to benefit others, had relatives receiving money or goods, misused public resources for personal gain, engaged in power-for-money transactions, and illegally accepted large sums of money for assisting others in business operations, contract bids, job promotions, and other matters.

In previous reports, former Deputy Minister of the Chinese Communist Party Central Propaganda Department, Zhang Jianchun, was expelled from the Party due to disciplinary violations.
