On July 30, 2026, in a report from Taiwan by Epoch Times reporter Zhong Yuan, it was reported that four Chinese Coast Guard ships intruded into the waters near Kinmen Island in the afternoon of the 29th, and Taiwan’s Coast Guard vessels monitored and responded vigorously to drive them away, defending the sovereignty of the Republic of China.
The Maritime Patrol Directorate of Taiwan’s Ocean Affairs Council stated that the provocative actions of the Chinese Coast Guard have been continuous. On the afternoon of the 29th, the 12th Patrol Zone under the jurisdiction of the Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu Division of the Coast Guard Bureau once again detected abnormal activities of Chinese Coast Guard ships in the waters around Kinmen. The Coast Guard immediately activated its response mechanism, dispatched patrol boats to intercept and forcefully drive them away, effectively safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of China in the waters of Kinmen and demonstrating the Coast Guard’s firm law enforcement stance.
According to the Taiwan Coast Guard, around 2 p.m. on the 29th, the 12th Patrol Zone detected Chinese Coast Guard ships gathering in two separate areas off the southern waters of Kinmen, and immediately dispatched patrol boats to the restricted waters to respond.
Furthermore, the Coast Guard elaborated that in the afternoon of the 29th, four Chinese Coast Guard ships with identification numbers “14606,” “14607,” “14532,” and “14533” formed two pairs and entered the restricted waters of Kinmen from the east of Liao Island and the southwest of Damao Mountain.
The Coast Guard promptly deployed patrol boats to intercept and monitor them one-on-one, preventing their further advancement into the waters of Kinmen. Through radio broadcasts in both Chinese and English, they sternly informed the Chinese ships that their actions seriously disrupted the order of the waters, demanding an immediate change of course. With the full response and deterrence by the Coast Guard, the formation of Chinese Coast Guard ships finally turned and sailed out of the restricted waters of Kinmen at 5:03 p.m.
The Coast Guard issued a stern warning, emphasizing that Taiwan, the Republic of China, and the People’s Republic of China do not subordinate to each other. China’s attempt to create false information about jurisdiction over the waters of Kinmen through frequent gray zone conflict tactics seriously deviates from reality, disrupts regional peace and stability.
