Iranian Ballistic Missile Attack on US Troops in Kuwait Successfully Intercepted

On Monday, June 1, 2026, the United States Central Command announced that on Sunday night, May 31st, the US military successfully intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Iran towards the stationed US troops in Kuwait.

According to a statement released by the Central Command on social media platform X on Monday, the attack occurred at 11 pm Eastern Time on Sunday night, and both incoming missiles were successfully intercepted. There were no injuries reported among US military personnel during the interception.

“The US Central Command remains highly vigilant and is committed to protecting US troops from Iranian attack actions while supporting the current ceasefire arrangements,” the Central Command stated.

This attack took place after the weekend when the United States conducted a “defensive strike” on Iranian radar facilities and drone command and control sites. The US described this “defensive strike” as a response to Iran’s previous aggressive behavior.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the “extremely malicious and repeated” attacks by Iran. Prior to the Foreign Ministry’s condemnation, Kuwait’s air defense forces intercepted multiple missiles and drones launched from Iran.

Over the past weekend, air raid sirens sounded across various parts of Kuwait as its air defense forces engaged with the Iranian attacks. The Kuwaiti government vowed to take “all necessary measures” to defend national security.

In a statement, Kuwait expressed that these attacks by Iran “constitute a dangerous escalation of the situation, posing a direct threat to Kuwait’s national security and stability, flagrantly violating international rules, the United Nations Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.”

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Kuwait reserves the right to take all necessary measures to safeguard national security and defend its territory.

“Based on international law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions, Kuwait holds Iran accountable for these extremely malicious acts of aggression,” Kuwait stated in the announcement.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia condemned Iran’s multiple attacks on Kuwait, stating that Iran violated Kuwait’s sovereignty and international law. Saudi Arabia expressed full support for Kuwait, affirming its support for all measures taken to maintain Kuwaiti sovereignty, security, and stability.
