Flushing BID announced on May 2 that Lippman Plaza on Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing will be transformed into an Outdoor Minimart every Friday. Starting from May 10 for eight consecutive weeks, there will be outdoor market and music performances held at Lippman Plaza, with alternating weeks for each activity. The market will offer eight free vendor spaces each week, and businesses are welcome to sign up.
Director of Flushing BID, Yu Diansong, expressed that with the coming of summer, to enrich the summer lives of the public and provide opportunities for Flushing businesses to expand their opportunities, from May 10 to June 28, each Friday, an outdoor market and music performances will be held at the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 39th Avenue at Lippman Plaza, aiming to create more business opportunities for the central Flushing area businesses.
The market will feature handcrafted products, clothing, beverages, and more, with space for up to eight businesses at a time. Flushing BID will provide a tent, a table, and two chairs for businesses, and currently, 10 businesses have already signed up, including Wong Nutrition. Flushing BID welcomes businesses within the BID area to apply enthusiastically, as spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Over the course of these eight Fridays, the Minimart and performance events will each take place for four Fridays. The music and performances will include: a Hanfu exhibition and introduction by New York Hanfu Society volunteer Zhang Xialin, erhu performances by huqin player Cao Baoan, as well as Sass wind performances and percussion performances by Ethan McIntosh and Dylan Ofrias, among others.
The Minimart dates are May 10, May 24, June 7, and June 21, while the music and performance dates are May 17, May 31, June 14, and June 28. The events will run from 10 am to 5 pm.
