Sudden Fire in Chengdu Generates Intense Flames, Forming “Mushroom Cloud”

On the evening of October 12th, a fire broke out in Shuangliu District of Chengdu. Video footage from the scene showed a massive fireball erupting, creating a mushroom cloud and billowing thick smoke. Nearby residents expressed concerns about safety and were hesitant to approach the site for closer observation.

October 13th witnessed the circulation of multiple videos online depicting an explosion in Chengdu, Sichuan. The videos captured the scene with flames soaring into the sky and thick smoke engulfing the area. Some residents reportedly mentioned the presence of cars and an auto repair shop at the site of the fire. People also testified to seeking shelter due to the mushroom cloud formed by the blaze.

According to reports from Chinese media, several eyewitnesses disclosed that the incident occurred during the night of the 12th. The fire originated within the jurisdiction of Dongsheng Street, Shuangliu District.

Mr. Wang, who runs a supermarket near Wuxian Temple Road, shared his experience, stating that on the night of the 12th around 10 pm, he overheard someone mentioning a fire nearby. He hurried to the door and saw flames and smoke in the distance. Wang pointed out that despite being over a kilometer away from the fire, the area had many trees, making the blaze visible. Some individuals initially considered going closer to the scene but refrained from doing so after a strong burst of flames created a mushroom cloud, raising safety concerns.

Local authorities officially reported that around 10 pm on October 12th, a small fuel vehicle parked in the open space of Longqiao Community in Dongsheng Street, Shuangliu, caught fire and exploded.
