Grace Ho advocates for the nation over the party, pledges to establish a bipartisan advisory committee

On October 12, 2024, Democratic presidential candidate Ho Chin-li delivered a campaign speech in Scottsdale, Arizona, stating her intention to establish a bipartisan advisory committee to engage with Republicans and moderate voters for feedback on her policies if elected president.

In front of a banner that read “Country Over Party,” Ho stated, “I will not only appoint a Republican to my cabinet, I just discussed this with my team, and I hope to establish some structures around a few key points. I welcome good ideas, no matter where they come from. Therefore, I plan to create a bipartisan advisory committee to provide policy feedback during our governance process.”

She emphasized the need for a healthy two-party system, stressing the importance of maintaining such a system for the benefit of all. Ho expressed her desire not to be surrounded by “yes-men.”

Ho Chin-li expressed her aspiration to be a leader for all Americans, regardless of their political backgrounds or beliefs. She highlighted the importance of focusing on common ground rather than differences, advocating for cooperation and unity to overcome divisions. She stated, “I pledge to be a president for all Americans… because we have more in common than what divides us.”

As the election countdown continues, Ho Chin-li’s campaign team continues to work towards attracting key swing state Republicans and moderate voters, gaining support from several Republicans including former Vice President Dick Cheney and former congresswoman Liz Cheney.

During Friday’s event, Ho shared a story about engaging in a heated discussion with former Arizona Senator John McCain in a Senate committee room. Later that day, McCain told her on the Senate floor, “Young lady, come over, you will be a great senator.”

At a rally in Chandler, Arizona on Thursday night, she recounted McCain’s vote to block the repeal of the Affordable Care Act during the Trump administration.

Public records show that McCain was a former US Navy pilot who participated in the Vietnam War and was captured by North Vietnamese soldiers during a bombing mission in 1967, remaining a prisoner until his release in 1973. He served as a US senator from Arizona and ran for president as a Republican in 2008.

Ho Chin-li praised McCain as an extraordinary American hero, stating, “John McCain stood by his principles. He believed in the importance of patriotism, the spirit of sacrifice, and our nation’s position.”
