Shanghai Residents and Police Clash, Shout “Down with the Communist Party”

Recently, there has been an incident circulating on the internet where a speaker was arrested by police in the Fuxing Park in Shanghai, and hundreds of people stood up to block them, with two elderly individuals shouting, “Down with the Communist Party!”

On October 3rd, Zhao Lanjian, a former Chinese media figure and whistleblower in the “Iron Chain Lady” incident, uploaded a video on the social platform X. She disclosed that on the afternoon of September 28th, a speaker known as Mr. “Pingban” was about to leave after finishing his speech in Fuxing Park in Shanghai when several police officers tried to take him away in a police car.

At the scene, hundreds of people surrounded the police car, preventing it from leaving. Subsequently, the crowd pulled “Pingban”, who had already been taken into the police car, out of it. Despite the police officers trying to put “Pingban” back in the car, the people once again opened the doors and pulled him out.

After several rounds of confrontation, “Pingban” was finally taken by the police into the car. However, dozens of people stood in front of the police car to prevent them from taking “Pingban” away.

Eventually, the police called in security personnel to form a human barrier on both sides of the police car before they were able to drive away.

Two elderly individuals in their 80s chased after the police, waving their beverage bottles and shouting, “Down with the Communist Party!” Wherever the police tried to hide, the two elderly individuals followed, continuing the scene for nearly half an hour.
