Recently in the JTBC variety show “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” South Korean actress Son Ye-jin promoted her new drama and revealed her private refrigerator after marriage with Hyun Bin for the first time. Feeling that exposing her refrigerator is like showing her bare face, she cleaned the refrigerator before filming and even prepared a few dishes. Unexpectedly, Hyun Bin jokingly teased her about this pretentious gesture, saying, “This is not the refrigerator I usually see,” sparking laughter from the audience with their playful interaction.
Son Ye-jin married Hyun Bin in 2022, and the couple now has a 3-year-old son named Kim Yoo-jin. In the recently aired episode of “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” Son Ye-jin mentioned that she is a loyal viewer of the show. She expressed that although she found appearing on the show very interesting, the thought of having to reveal her home refrigerator felt like showing her bare face and admitted to feeling pressure.
As a housewife, Son Ye-jin revealed that before filming, she “prepared dishes she doesn’t usually make and specifically cleaned the refrigerator.” Hyun Bin’s candid remark, “This is not the refrigerator I usually see,” elicited laughter from the audience.
The host opened Son Ye-jin’s refrigerator to find various ingredients and dishes neatly organized. It was stocked with various ingredients, dishes, and photos she shared on Instagram of dumplings, rice rolls, braised fish, cooked by herself, showcasing her culinary skills.
Although the family of three has different tastes, with Hyun Bin and their son preferring light flavors while Son Ye-jin enjoys sweets, when asked who she accommodates when cooking as the “chef” of the house, she jokingly said, “I have to go with my taste as the head chef, so they eat what I cook for them.”
Son Ye-jin revealed that there is a fixed order for packing leftover rice at home. If their son doesn’t finish his meal, she eats it, and if she can’t finish it either, she leaves it to Hyun Bin to finish. Reflecting on her dashing husband always taking care of finishing the leftovers at home, Son Ye-jin couldn’t help but quip, “I feel a bit sorry for him.”
In the show, Son Ye-jin secretly shared a precious honey received by Hyun Bin, valued at up to 2.5 million Korean won (approximately over 60,000 New Taiwan dollars), with everyone present. When asked if she sought her husband’s permission, she confidently said with a laugh, “What can he do to me anyway?”
After the episode aired, “Hyun Bin’s Honey” caused a stir. It is reported that this New Zealand Manuka honey, packaged in a crystal glass bottle designed by a craftsman, is only available to members.
Apart from the refrigerator anecdotes, Son Ye-jin also talked about her 4-year-old son’s appearance and daily scenarios of acting in plays with her son on the show. When asked who their son resembles more, she proudly answered without hesitation, “I feel like he resembles me more!” However, she further dissected their son’s features, explaining that he cleverly combines the best qualities of both her and Hyun Bin, with the upper half of his face and eyes resembling Son Ye-jin more and the lower half resembling Hyun Bin more.
