Hebei Expressway: Freight Truck Catches Fire, Dozens of Cars Being Transported Burned

On March 16th, a cargo truck carrying dozens of cars caught fire on the Suining section of the Daguan Expressway in Hebei Province. The cars on the truck were engulfed in flames, leaving only charred skeletons behind.

According to eyewitnesses, at 10:33 am on March 16th, a truck carrying sedans caught fire on the Suining section of the Daguan Expressway (near Suining Service Area). A driver and his son happened to be passing by on their way to Baoding when they witnessed the incident. They were trying to quickly pass by the scene of the accident when suddenly there was an explosion, followed by a spreading fireball. The right side of their own vehicle was heated by the flames, causing them to scream in shock!

Videos from the scene show the fierce blaze engulfing all the cars, with thick black smoke billowing into the sky. After the firefighters extinguished the fire, both the cargo truck and the sedans it was carrying were reduced to mere skeletons. According to reports, only the last three vehicles were spared from the fire.

Following the incident, local fire services, and highway traffic police rushed to the scene for rescue and disposal. The Hebei Expressway Travel Information Service website indicated that due to the traffic accident near the Suining Service Area, several toll stations along the route prohibited vehicle passage.

Around 3 pm on the 16th, the highway traffic police at the scene stated that the open flames had been extinguished. Further investigations are required to determine the specific cause of the fire.

Netizens commented on the incident, speculating that it might have been an electric car that ignited the fire. Some also suggested that since new oil cars typically carry a maximum of one liter of fuel, it could only be a new energy vehicle that caused such an intense fire. Concerns were raised about the potential compensation issues arising from the incident, with questions being raised about the safety standards for trucks allowed on highways and the legality of modifications made to certain vehicle components.
