On Tuesday night (October 1st), a terrorist attack occurred in Tel Aviv, resulting in at least six deaths and dozens of injuries.
The police have identified the two attackers as clear “terrorists.” The incident took place at a light rail station in Jaffa, a mixed neighbourhood of Arabs and Jews in southern Tel Aviv.
Television footage showed the gunmen disembarking at a light rail station and opening fire.
According to the police, the gunmen were eventually shot dead by members of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa security patrol and civilians using personal firearms.
While no organization has claimed responsibility for the incident, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that the suspects were Palestinians from Hebron in the West Bank.
Hardliner Smotrich indicated that he would request the government to expel the suspect’s family members to Gaza.
The emergency medical service Magen David Adom ambulance department received a report at 7:01 PM on Tuesday evening about people being shot.
Magen David Adom stated that medical and nursing staff provided on-site treatment to injured individuals with varying degrees of injuries, including some who lost consciousness.
Initially, security forces believed it was a criminal incident, but upon hearing gunshots and shouts of “Allahu Akbar” (God is great or Allah is great), they classified it as a terrorist attack.
The injured were taken to Ichilov Medical Center and Wolfson Medical Center, with several in critical condition.
A witness said, “We were on the light rail when suddenly we heard gunshots outside. At first, we thought it was fireworks, but then we realized it was something worse. Gunshots rang out. We fell to the ground, people were crying. I saw someone bleeding on the ground.”
Shortly after this terror attack, Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on various parts of Israel.
Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder stated on Tuesday that Iran’s attack on Israel that day was approximately twice the scale of its attack on the country in April.
