Recently, there have been reports circulating within the petitioner community that many petitioners from Sichuan have gone missing or been abducted after arriving in Beijing, some even being detained and persecuted in mental hospitals.
On January 3rd, at around 4 pm, petitioner Rang Chongbi from Yunyang, Chongqing, was intercepted at the Beijing Daguang Expressway checkpoint (under the jurisdiction of Daxing Public Security Sub-Bureau) and has since gone missing with his phone turned off.
Petitioners from Chongqing have been reaching out to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau (010-110) and the Beijing Municipal Government (010-12345) to report the situation and request protection for Rang Chongbi’s personal safety and freedom.
On the same day, according to Ms. Wang from Sichuan, petitioner Li Yanli from Leshan, Sichuan, was unlawfully abducted back to her hometown by the Quanfu Street Office and Quanfu Police Station of Leshan City while petitioning in Beijing, and subsequently detained in a mental hospital in Leshan.
On January 2nd, petitioner Wei Wenyuan and Fu Shuqing, who had just been released from prison in Nan’an District, Chongqing, were also taken to the Dapenglan Police Station in Xicheng District, Beijing. They were eventually escorted out by personnel from the Chongqing Liaison Office in Beijing. The two insisted on not going with the office personnel, and as of now, they are safe.
Wei Wenyuan arrived in Beijing on December 15, 2025, after being intercepted by unknown individuals in the Lugouqiao District of Beijing. Her phone became unreachable that afternoon. She was later found to have been sent back to her home in Chongqing.
Wei Wenyuan, in order to ensure that the policy of “maintaining the original standard of living without lowering it, and ensuring long-term livelihood security” is implemented for the Chinese people, was imprisoned twice on charges of “provoking trouble.” The sentences were two and a half years and four and a half years, respectively.
Petitioner Wang Yicui from Neijiang City, Sichuan, who had also recently been released, incurred various illnesses during her time in prison. After her release, she sought medical treatment everywhere. To facilitate treatment, she and petitioner Jiang Chengfen temporarily rented a house in the Fengtai District of Beijing. On December 30, 2025, Wang Yicui and Jiang Chengfen were abducted, beaten, and forcibly taken into an unlicensed black car after coming out of a supermarket in Xinfangyuan Street in Beijing. The vehicles moved around, eventually arriving at Yushuquan Street in the Fengtai District of Beijing.
According to Wang Yicui’s account, she and Jiang Chengfen were illegally detained for more than ten hours in a fire station in the Nanyuan Street of Fengtai District, where Jiang Chengfen was later taken away in an unlicensed black car, causing the two to lose contact with each other. Due to the beating, Wang Yicui showed symptoms of headache and dizziness.
She stated, “At around 1 am on December 31, 2025, Chen Baochuan, secretary of Fengming Village, Quan’an Town, Shizhong District, Neijiang City, Sichuan, appeared. When they saw me calling 110, they all fled. The black security guard threw me into a barren land and ran away; I almost froze to death. After I called the police, the police took me to the hospital.”
Wang Yicui emphasized, “I, Wang Yicui, will not commit suicide. If anything happens to me, it must be a murder carried out by the illegal officials of Neijiang City, Sichuan.”
