Four Dead in Zhejiang House Fire as Flames Light Up the Night Sky

On the night of May 24th, a residential fire in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province resulted in the deaths of four people. Video footage circulating online showed intense flames at the scene.

According to a report by the Xiu Zhou District Fire Department in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province on May 25th, a residential fire broke out in Wangdian Town, Xiu Zhou District at 9:56 pm on the previous day. Three people died at the scene, and one person was injured. Despite rescue efforts, the injured individual also succumbed to their injuries.

The report stated that the open flames were extinguished by 10:28 pm that evening.

However, local internet users disclosed that “It was so terrifying, even the fire trucks couldn’t get in last night.” “When there was smoke, someone knocked on the door, but no one answered, the person being rescued also did not make it.”

The report also indicated that based on preliminary investigations, the fire started from furniture, affecting an area of approximately 50 square meters.

Internet users raised questions such as “Why did the furniture catch fire?” “Could there be other reasons?” “Without an open flame, can furniture self-ignite?”

The circulated video footage showed the fierce blaze illuminating the night sky with flames and smoke.

Additionally, netizens from Zhejiang shared their own experiences, with one saying, “A nearby house also caught fire a few days ago. I was the first to notice it, but we were far away. I saw smoke from the fifth floor when it just started burning. I told my husband that there was a fire, thinking it started from below. Later, my husband told me that when he saw it, it had just ignited from the top floor. Because it was an old building with wooden partitions, and it was dry and windy those days, it caught fire quickly. It was said to be due to aging electrical wires.”
