Explosion in a Residential Area of Shanxi Province Leaves at Least 1 Dead, 21 Injured, and 2 Missing

As the “May Day” holiday approaches, a series of safety incidents have occurred in China. On April 30th around 1 p.m., an explosion took place in the Fengjing Jiayuan residential area in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. According to official reports, the explosion has resulted in 1 death, 21 injuries, and 2 individuals missing.

Reported by Jimo News, the residential area where the explosion occurred is located near Taiyuan South Railway Station. A passenger mentioned that she was waiting at Taiyuan South Station when she suddenly heard a “bang” sound, causing panic among the people around her. It was later revealed that the explosion happened in a nearby residential area close to the station.

Multiple residents of the Fengjing Jiayuan residential area stated that the area is divided into A, B, and C sections, with the explosion site at the B section. A shop owner mentioned that his store is near the explosion site and has temporarily halted operations following the incident.

Property management staff in the residential area responded by stating that the impact of the explosion was significant, with multiple floors catching fire. The vicinity of the residential area has been cordoned off, and the property management personnel are conducting search and rescue operations within the affected building, checking for any remaining occupants.

According to state-backed media CCTV News, as of 7:30 p.m. on the 30th, the explosion has caused 1 fatality, 21 injuries, including 6 severe and 15 minor injuries, and 2 persons unaccounted for. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. Due to the Chinese Communist Party’s tendency to conceal the truth, the actual situation may be more severe than reported.

Additionally, the day before the incident in Shanxi, a fire broke out during lunchtime at a restaurant in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province, resulting in 22 deaths and 3 injuries.
