Scientists research out-of-body experiences and make unexpected discoveries.

Some people claim to have had experiences of their souls leaving their bodies, and have seen things that are not normally visible. However, this phenomenon of out-of-body experiences has not been scientifically proven, and scientists have been constantly trying to investigate this phenomenon through experiments. Recently, scientists made an unexpected discovery in this area.

The University of Virginia Health System announced in a press release on September 9th that in an experiment designed to test whether individuals who claim to have out-of-body experiences can identify objects in another room, the test results of the participants were no better than random guessing, but they provided unexplainable statements.

In an experiment led by Virginia University neuroscientist Marina Weiler and conducted in Brazil, 21 participants attempted to identify random objects on a laptop screen in another room.

Among these participants, 10 individuals claimed to have had out-of-body experiences, and 13 people provided descriptions of the object. These 13 people included both those who had and had not experienced out-of-body phenomena.

Statistically, the descriptions provided by these participants were not more accurate than pure guesswork. However, two of them described events that should have been impossible, leaving researchers unable to provide a definitive explanation.

In subsequent interviews, one participant described how a researcher in another room, behind a closed door, was seated on the left side, looking at the laptop screen, while another researcher sat at a farther distance reading a book.

Another participant described how in another room, a researcher sat on the right side taking notes, while another researcher sat on the left side operating a computer.

The experiment records confirmed that these descriptions by the participants were entirely accurate. Furthermore, those conducting the experiment stated that the participants could not have seen the researchers at all.

This led the researchers to believe that the choice of target objects in out-of-body experience experiments could play an important role in determining the results. Objects that are striking, distinct in features, or emotionally resonant may be easier for participants to visualize in their minds.

In future experiments, researchers may consider introducing details beyond the traditional target objects that participants may notice, but have not been informed about. For example, having the researchers wear brightly colored or distinctive clothing in the enclosed room.

If participants can accurately describe these items without ever seeing them or being given related information, it would strongly support the concept of “remote viewing” during out-of-body experiences.

Weiler stated, “I hope these findings will compel us to think deeper, about what they might mean for our understanding of consciousness – and ultimately, our understanding of the nature of reality.”

She added, “If research confirms that people can obtain accurate information that their ordinary senses could not access, we must reassess some assumptions related to the relationship between consciousness, perception, and the physical world.”

Although this research did not conclusively prove the existence of out-of-body phenomena, many individuals who have had near-death experiences claim to have experienced out-of-body events.

In a previous report by Dajiyuan,

In 1998, Kentucky-based doctor Jeffrey Long, who founded the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation, studied approximately 5,000 cases of near-death experiences.

He previously told Business Insider that among individuals who have undergone near-death experiences, about 45% of them have reported having out-of-body experiences. In these situations, their consciousness separates from their physical body, often floating above it, and being able to see and hear what is happening around them.

After an out-of-body experience, people usually enter a different space. Many individuals pass through a tunnel and see a bright light. They then encounter deceased loved ones, including pets. Most people describe feeling unparalleled love and tranquility. They feel that place is their true home.
