The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on the 10th refuted the false remarks made by the Chinese Communist Party and Namibia in a joint statement that undermined the sovereignty of the Republic of China.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China pointed out that Xi Jinping met with Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who was visiting China as a state guest on July 10. After the meeting, they issued a joint statement which falsely claimed the “One China Principle.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sternly rejected such denigration of our country’s sovereignty.
The ministry reiterated that the Republic of China is a sovereign and independent country, not subordinate to the People’s Republic of China, and Taiwan has never been part of the People’s Republic of China.
This has long been the universally recognized objective fact in the international community and the current situation in the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan’s status as a sovereign state will not be changed by unilateral claims of any country. Taiwan will not change its determination to defend its democratic system in the face of Chinese coercion.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Chinese Communist government for repeatedly making false statements that diminish the sovereignty of the Republic of China during meetings with foreign heads of state, misleading the international audience, and the complicit behavior of host countries in ignoring international realities.
The ministry called on the international community to see through the nature of Beijing’s authoritarian expansion and collectively resist China’s malicious lies. It also reiterated that Taiwan will steadfastly uphold the values of freedom and democracy in the future, work with allies and like-minded countries, and continue to dedicate itself to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Taiwan Strait and the region.
