The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) announced today that Taiwan and like-minded countries collaborated on the “Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF)” to hold an international workshop on telecommunications and cyber resilience. Over 200 participants from more than 26 countries around the world, along with experts in relevant fields from Taiwan, gathered to safeguard global digital security.
In a press release today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the event was jointly organized by Taiwan, the United States, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, and others. In cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Development, the workshop on “Global Cooperation and Training Framework for Telecommunications and Cyber Resilience” was held in Taiwan from the 28th to the 30th of this month. The event aimed to share policies and concrete actions taken by various countries to enhance telecommunications infrastructure and information security resilience to address common challenges and create a secure digital environment.
The opening ceremony of the workshop was delivered by the representatives of the co-organizing countries and Taiwan’s Minister of Digital Development, Mr. Huang Yan-Nan. Brendan Dowling, Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, gave a keynote speech titled “Strategies for Public-Private and Regional Cooperation to Enhance Digital Resilience.”
During the workshop, Taiwanese and international speakers discussed policies, regulations, technologies, and other aspects related to strengthening the resilience of telecommunications infrastructure in different countries. Additionally, participants shared their experiences on topics such as supply chain cybersecurity risk management, public-private cooperation to enhance cybersecurity, and talent development. The event also included a visit by international delegates to Taiwan’s satellite and microwave stations to gain firsthand insights into Taiwan’s telecommunications infrastructure development.
As technology, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy rapidly advance, countries are increasingly focused on issues related to telecommunications and cyber resilience. Taiwan will continue to collaborate with like-minded nations through the GCTF platform to leverage its strengths and create a progressive, prosperous, and secure digital environment.
