North American Engineers’ Association Holds Thanksgiving Dinner, Embracing the Past, Welcoming a New Chapter

On December 7th, the year-end appreciation dinner hosted by the Silicon Valley chapter of the North America Taiwanese Engineering Association (NATEA) took place with the co-organization of the general committee. The event, held in Milpitas, aimed to express gratitude to team members and individuals from various sectors. It looked back on the achievements of the past year while also outlining future development plans.

The event attracted nearly seventy political figures, overseas Taiwanese leaders, community influencers, and members. The distinguished guests included Zhuang Yashu, Director of the Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Center, Chen Ailan, Head of the Economic Department of the Economic Affairs Department, Wang Zhiping from the Technology Department, Joseph Wei, Chairman of IEEE’s Sixth District, Tim Tang, North America Head of Weichuan ITS, and Andy Hsu, the CEO of Neo-Semi.

Former President of the NATEA Silicon Valley Chapter, Li Xianghe, President Yang Yaohong, along with former Presidents Yu Jinbang, Xu Mingzhang, Zhou Xinjie, and former Chairman of the Think Tank and Silicon Valley Chapter, Lin Wugu, former Presidents Xia Pengfei, Chen Baida, Liao Jianmin, and the newly appointed President of the Silicon Valley Chapter, Lin Youli, were all in attendance to grace the occasion.

Zhuang Yashu, Director of the South Bay Overseas Education Center, expressed gratitude to NATEA for serving as an important technology platform in Silicon Valley and throughout the United States, bringing together Taiwanese engineers and promoting Taiwan-US technological exchanges. She particularly praised the youth NATEA program for attracting young participants, injecting new vitality into the overseas Chinese community, facilitating generational continuity, and helping young individuals engage with the overseas Chinese community early on to plan their future paths, which is significant.

During the banquet, former President of the NATEA Silicon Valley chapter, Li Xianghe, recounted the growth journey of NATEA since its establishment in 1991, mentioning its expansion to include twelve chapters, including Silicon Valley, Chicago, and the newly established Arizona chapter last year. She also shared highlights of the past year, including the Women’s Summit Power Forum, 2024 US-Taiwan Startup Day, and the US-Taiwan Technology Forum, along with many other exciting events. She expressed gratitude to the Taiwanese government, sponsors, and partners for their support of NATEA and looked forward to organizing more exciting activities in the future.

Yang Yaohong, President of the NATEA general committee, noted in his address that since its establishment in 1991, NATEA has undergone 34 years of effort and challenges, actively attracting participation from younger generations, including high school students, university students, and their parents. The association aims to establish a career development support system to help young individuals grow into management roles and achieve career progression in a structured manner. He emphasized that this is the essence behind the establishment of Junior NATEA, aiming to promote the growth of the second and third generations and build a sustainable development model.

The newly appointed President, Lin Youli, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the former President and all members for their dedicated efforts and contributions to NATEA. He appreciated everyone’s attention and support for the association and then shared the development plans and vision for the new year alongside the election committee members.
