Canadian man breaks world record by walking 38 dogs at the same time

In Canada, a man recently set a new Guinness World Record by walking 1 kilometer while simultaneously walking 38 small dogs. This record-breaking feat surpassed the previous record of walking 36 dogs at the same time.

According to the Guinness World Records website on October 16, the man named Mitchell Rudy achieved this feat on September 5 in Huishan County, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. He was accompanied by the Canadian charity organization BONK and the Korean animal protection group Korean K9 Rescue (KK9R) during a local outing, where he set the new record for walking the most dogs at once.

To break this record, Rudy had to walk 1 kilometer while holding a leash connected to all 38 dogs, ensuring that none of the dogs got loose during the process.

All the dogs participating in this record-breaking event were rescues adopted by KK9R from local sources, including some from low-survivability breeding facilities and others saved from being slaughtered at butchers.

Rudy is an animal advocate affiliated with BONK. He expressed his immense joy in being able to play with so many dogs at once, emphasizing the importance of providing these animals with love and a nurturing home.

“These dogs were rescued by KK9R and other organizations in South Korea. These rescue operations symbolize a lot of shame. They are wonderful animals and deserve a loving home. All they need is a bit of care,” Rudy said.

South Korea has been known for its consumption of dog meat, but in January of this year, a law was passed in the country banning the consumption of dog meat.

Gina Kim-Sadiku, the executive director of KK9R, mentioned that the organization had limited time to train the dogs for the event, but due to their strong foundation, they were able to achieve a lot in a short period.

Rudy explained that the inspiration behind the event came from the idea of rescuing as many dogs as possible in a short amount of time and giving them the opportunity to become well-adjusted pets.

“We wanted to do something to make these dogs top-notch. They are good dogs deserving of a home,” he said.

It is essential to allow your dogs to stop and sniff around while walking them, as it is crucial for their well-being. Veterinary expert Whitney Miller emphasized that not allowing dogs to stop and smell things during walks can cause them stress, as it is how they assess their environment.
