Mother seeks justice after son and husband die mysteriously within a week

Recently, a villager named Xiang Xianling from Guandu Kou Town, Badong County, Hubei Province, made public an accusation letter to the Central Inspection Team online. In the letter, she described the mysterious death of her eldest son, Shan Jiangshan, at the junior high school in Guandu Kou Town, Badong County. The family members were beaten and detained when they sought justice, and her husband, Shan Dabe, escaped from confinement by the supervisory personnel but was chased and forced into the Yangtze River with a long bamboo pole, where he was drowned. Within a week, Xiang Xianling lost both her husband and son. Seeking justice, Xiang Xianling had been wrongly convicted for three years.

Xiang Xianling explained in the letter that her son Shan Jiangshan, aged 15 at the time, died mysteriously on April 4, 2015 while attending school at the junior high school in Guandu Kou Town, Badong County. The family suspected he was bullied to death at the school, but the surveillance footage was incomplete. The authorities demanded that the family sign the traces inspection report, but they refused.

During an interview with Epoch Times, Xiang Xianling expressed that due to many doubts, when she saw her son lying between the third and fourth floors of the school building, he was covered in bruises and blood. The family requested to view the surveillance video, and her husband demanded they bring out a specific video, but they turned a blind eye, disregarded human life, and did not take the victim’s family’s words seriously.

Xiang Xianling and her husband, Shan Dabe, along with relatives, went to the school to seek justice and demanded clarification on the cause of death. The family requested that the forensic pathologist at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan perform an autopsy on Shan Jiangshan’s body. Xiang Xianling stated that the supervisory staff completely ignored the family’s demands, refused the autopsy, and to cover up the truth, took away the son’s body. On April 6, the county government deployed stability maintenance personnel to lock the family members in confinement on the fourth floor of Guandu Kou Town Health Center. The family members were physically assaulted, including Xiang Xianling’s mother, who was beaten to unconsciousness and had to be resuscitated after 8 hours of rescue.

Xiang Xianling said, “Even my mother was beaten, and she passed out at that time. She was saved after 8 hours of rescue. They were particularly brutal and arrogant.” Six days later, on April 11, the father of the child, Shan Dabe, escaped from the supervision room of the health center in the town and ran on the street shouting slogans such as “School kills people,” “Government kills people,” and “The government does nothing, are there no consequences for killing.” Xiang Xianling stated that the supervisory personnel relentlessly chased her husband, forcing him to the bank of the Yangtze River. With nowhere to go, Shan Dabe was forced to jump into the river, yelling, “The school kills people,” “The police kill people,” “Heaven, who will seek justice for my child.”

“Government supervisory personnel not only did not rescue him, but also brought a bamboo pole and pushed Shan Dabe into the deep water to drown,” Xiang Xianling said. “To seek the truth, my husband was also tortured to confess that the child died of illness, and then they forced him into the Yangtze River alive.” Xiang Xianling was grief-stricken after losing her husband and son within a week. She began a hunger strike to protest but was poisoned by the supervisory personnel, causing her to become disoriented.

Xiang Xianling stated that the supervisory staff poisoned her in the water to coerce her into signing. “After drinking a glass of water given by the supervisory personnel, my mind became uncontrollable, and my body lost self-control, becoming very obedient to the supervisory personnel.” The supervisory personnel pressured her to sign and admit that “the child died of illness, and my husband committed suicide,” even voluntarily signing a “compensation agreement” and allowing the personnel to press her handprint on it.

The case of Xiang Xianling’s son and husband has been ongoing for 10 years. During this time, she has been repeatedly detained by the authorities for seeking justice. From 2017 to 2018, she went to Beijing three times to appeal but was all turned away. In 2018, the local public security detained her in the Badong County detention center for “repeated petitioning and causing disturbances,” claiming she was previously poisoned in the detention center. Subsequently, Badong County sentenced her to three years in prison for “provoking trouble.”

Xiang Xianling expressed her sole desire to expose the truth and seek justice for her unjustly deceased husband and son, persisting despite the difficulties. In May of this year, she sent an accusation letter to the so-called Central Inspection Team of the Chinese Communist Party, but so far, there has been no response.

On the afternoon of July 23, Epoch Times called Guandu Kou Town Junior High School in Badong County. When asked about the mysterious death of Shan Jiangshan at the school ten years ago, the person on the line claimed to be unaware and promptly hung up the phone. In the afternoon of the same day, Epoch Times tried to reach out to the Guandu Kou Town government and Public Security Bureau multiple times. When asked about the deaths of Shan Jiangshan and Shan Dabe, the personnel either remained silent or immediately hung up the phone, refusing to provide any information.
