On the morning of May 27th, the topic “Actor Zhang Han Gets Sued” surged to the 2nd place on the hot search list on Weibo. Several Chinese media outlets reported that on May 26th, an official summons escalated the capital dispute between actor Zhang Han and the “Shao Ben Shao” (Shanghai) catering company to the forefront. The case involving the recovery of unpaid capital contributions between “Shao Ben Shao” and Zhang Han is scheduled to be heard in the Shanghai Railway Transport Court on July 28th.
According to information from “Tianyancha,” the “Shao Ben Shao” (Shanghai) catering company was established in January 2021 with a registered capital of 10 million yuan. Zhang Han once held a 10% stake and exited in April 2023. Currently, the company’s shareholders Ren Shun, Li Ni, Zhang Meijuan, and Zhang Han are all being sued.
Reports indicate that as the “Mars Barbecue Master” of the “Shao Ben Shao” brand, Zhang Han has appeared multiple times to promote his brand. With the influence of Zhang Han’s stardom, the flagship store dominated the top spot on the Ningbo real-time comprehensive and merchant ranking lists even before its opening. The company has been associated with multiple bankruptcy auction information and has been restricted from high consumption.
Data from “Qichacha” shows that since 2023, “Shao Ben Shao” has been listed as the debtor five times with a total amount of 2.2492 million yuan. In 2024, the company applied for bankruptcy review. Analysis suggests that if the court finds Zhang Han’s capital contribution to be flawed, he may face the obligation to make up for the contribution and joint compensation.
In the afternoon of May 27th, Zhang Han’s studio released a “Stern Statement” in response to the trending controversy, stating that the contents related to “Actor Zhang Han Gets Sued” and “Zhang Han Sued by Shao Ben Shao Barbecue” differ from the actual situation.
The statement claims that Zhang Han once held a 10% stake in Shao Ben Shao (Shanghai) Catering Management Co., Ltd. During his shareholding period, Zhang Han fully paid up his shares in accordance with legal requirements and company agreements, fulfilling all shareholder obligations.
The statement emphasizes that as Zhang Han did not actually participate in the operation and management of the Shao Ben Shao brand, and the other shareholders had difficulty reaching a consensus on brand development and management, Zhang Han later terminated all cooperation with the Shao Ben Shao brand and actually withdrew from the company. On April 25, 2023, Shao Ben Shao (Shanghai) Catering Management Co., Ltd. completed the relevant equity change public procedures for Zhang Han’s exit, and since then, Zhang Han has had no legal relationship with the Shao Ben Shao brand.
Zhang Han rose to fame in 2009 with the role of “Mu Rong Yunhai” in the youth campus drama “Meteor Shower.” He has since appeared in multiple works such as “Falling in Love with You by Accident,” “The Price of the Queen,” “Da Tang Yan Yi,” and “When a Snail Falls in Love.” However, since his debut, Zhang Han seems to have a natural penchant for controversy, frequently becoming the center of attention. This trending event has once again plunged this 40-year-old popular actor into a whirlpool of public opinion.
