On Friday, September 11th, a major traffic accident involving three vehicles occurred in the Kholmogory area of Arkhangelsk region in northern Russia, resulting in at least 12 fatalities and 8 injuries.
According to reports from Russian media, the accident took place at around 7:40 p.m. local time on Friday. Local officials stated that a minibus collided with a car and a lumber-carrying truck. The minibus was attempting to overtake at the time of the collision, which happened with the truck. Among the deceased was a child.
“According to preliminary reports, the minibus collided with the lumber truck coming from the opposite direction while overtaking,” stated the Arkhangelsk region branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Arkhangelsk region Health Department reported that among the 8 injured individuals, 5 are in serious condition and 3 are critically injured.
The regional prosecutor’s office in Arkhangelsk region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug stated that all the deceased were passengers on the minibus. Nine ambulances, including those equipped for intensive care, have arrived at the scene of the accident.
According to the Health Department, medical personnel are assessing the conditions of the injured, providing emergency treatment, and arranging for their transfer to various hospitals in Arkhangelsk. The three most critically injured patients have been transported to the state clinical hospital.
The Health Department is coordinating assistance for the injured and has indicated that all medical facilities have been alerted and are prepared to receive the patients.
