In the early hours of Sunday (September 6), a tragic incident took place at a Sam’s Club located in the 1300 block of Antioch Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. A 55-year-old employee of Frito-Lay, Paris Carlock from Murfreesboro, was fatally struck in the head by a bullet that pierced through a metal wall while he was conducting inventory in the chip aisle of the store.
Emergency responders found the injured victim in the parking lot and rushed him to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reported that the shooting may be related to a dispute at the nearby Lavo Lounge. Security personnel had escorted individuals involved in the altercation out of the bar, but the argument continued outside. As a vehicle drove away, gunshots were heard, with one bullet penetrating the metal exterior wall of Sam’s Club and hitting Carlock inside.
PepsiCo, the parent company of Frito-Lay, released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague. They extended their heartfelt condolences to his family and friends and assured that they are cooperating closely with law enforcement and local officials to address the situation.
A spokesperson for Sam’s Club also conveyed their sadness about the incident and offered condolences to those impacted, pledging full cooperation with the police investigation.
The Homicide Unit of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is currently investigating the case.
