On July 25th, Typhoon “Hongxia” has reached the coastal areas of Guangdong Province in China. Official reports suggest that Guangdong may be experiencing tornadoes.
Numerous netizens have been uploading videos online. One video showed that on the afternoon of the 25th, Typhoon “Hongxia” arrived at Dongguan, Guangdong, displaying its power.
A netizen from Shenzhen shared a video saying, “Hongxia has arrived, suddenly strong winds began in the afternoon.”
Official reports state that Typhoon “Hongxia” is approaching the eastern coast of Guangdong this year, with maximum wind strength reaching level 12. It is expected to make landfall along the coast of Hong Kong to Huilai in Guangdong from tonight (July 25) to early morning on the 26th.
At 6 AM on July 25th, the China Meteorological Administration issued warnings for typhoons, heavy rain, high temperatures, and severe convective weather. Convection weather is expected in North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Northeast China, and high temperatures in areas like Xinjiang and the Sichuan Basin.
Due to the impact of the typhoon, from the 25th to the 27th, there will be heavy rainfall in the eastern coastal areas and northern mountainous regions of Guangdong, southern Jiangxi, southern Hunan, etc. Some areas in the eastern part of Guangdong, southern Fujian, southern Jiangxi, and southern Hunan may receive total accumulated rainfall of 150-300 millimeters, locally 400-500 millimeters, with maximum of around 600 millimeters in individual areas.
In the next three days, there will be showers or thunderstorms in North China, Huanghuai, Jianghuai, Northeast China, etc., with locally heavy to torrential rain.
Some areas in southern North China, Huanghuai, Northeast Jianghuai, etc., may experience severe thunderstorm winds of level 8 or above, or hail. Parts of southern Shandong, central-east Henan, northern Jiangsu, southwest Guangdong, might encounter thunderstorm winds of level 10 or higher, with wind speeds exceeding level 11. The possibility of tornadoes cannot be ruled out in some coastal areas of Guangdong.
Meanwhile, during the daytime on July 25th, localities in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Chongqing, etc., may see temperatures exceeding 40℃.
Starting from July 25th, Dongguan in Guangdong has implemented “four suspensions” (suspension of classes, work, transportation, and business) measures across the entire city. Notices for suspension of classes have been issued in Chaozhou and Shantou, with childcare institutions ceasing activities and extracurricular educational training institutions suspending training.
