June 4th, 2024, New York—Many young people emerged in this year’s commemorations of the June 4th event. They are all descendants of the students from June 4th, with some of their parents sentenced by the Chinese Communist Party for their involvement in the event. Regarding the truth about June 4th and other historical events, without exception, they only came to a thorough understanding after accessing real information from overseas by “climbing over the wall.” They believe that many Chinese people have been brainwashed by the CCP, and that recognizing the truth and standing up against the CCP is the hope for China.
Jiang Dingcheng, a young man from Hunan, wasn’t even born when June 4th happened. The day his father, who was arrested by the Communist Party for supporting the students, was taken away coincided with his wedding day. His father was later sentenced to 8 years in prison, and his girlfriend left him.
“In 1990, my father was taken out to parade, with two soldiers standing behind him with guns, and a sign hanging around his neck that read ‘counter-revolutionary element,'” Jiang recounted at a gathering in Flushing, New York on June 2nd, his voice trembling slightly with emotion.
Speaking out against the CCP at such a large gathering was a first in his life and something he never imagined before arriving in the United States a few months ago. In that moment, he felt free and exhilarated.
Jiang recalled that his father told him about the history of June 4th when he was 12, but it wasn’t until before the pandemic, when he accessed real information from overseas, that he truly believed his father’s words.
“Because in school, all you learn is about Mao Zedong’s ideology, Marxist theory, which you must study for exams, coupled with constantly watching the news, the people will be brainwashed after seeing too much and might begin to feel that the Communist Party is good,” he said.
Later, he used circumvention software to access news from abroad and realized that what his father had told him was true. He shared his newfound understanding with his father, who commended him, saying, “Your awareness is higher than the average Chinese person now.”
As Jiang stated in his speech at the gathering, 34 years have passed, yet the sign of “counter-revolutionary element” still hangs over his father’s head. Just the day before the father and son planned to leave China to come to the US, the National Security Office of the CCP called and invalidated his father’s Hong Kong and Macau travel documents and passport, telling him, “Don’t even think about leaving the country.”
Jiang had to leave China alone. After arriving in the US a few months ago, he appeared at the June 4th commemoration event, saying, “I want to say: Heroes have no regrets, there will be justice in the end!”
“Being able to express oneself freely, that’s the normal life of a person,” Jiang said. He hoped that Chinese people would be able to do the same, but he noted, “As long as the Communist Party is in power, there is no hope for freedom in China.”
Many young Chinese immigrants who have come to the US express that they didn’t leave China because they couldn’t make a living there; in fact, many of them had decent material lives. They left to break free from the mental constraints imposed by the CCP.
Chen Shilong, who arrived in the US last year, is the owner of a company himself. After circumventing the Great Firewall, he learned the truth and despises the CCP.
“Our elders were not allowed to speak the truth, so we later found out the truth through the foreign internet, such as The Epoch Times, NTD, and Freegate, by climbing over the wall,” he said. “The Communist Party is an evil organization that has brought deep disasters to the Chinese people ever since its inception.”
He calls on Chinese people inside and outside China to unite and work together to end the tyranny of the Communist Party.
Xiao Zhou, who recently arrived in the US, was active on the internet in China, where she witnessed her friends being arrested by the Communist Party for their speech and subsequently choosing to flee to the US.
She said that she had heard about the truth of the June 4th incident from her elders but remained skeptical until she saw real overseas footage, which led her to completely believe.
“I hope all Chinese people can see through the true nature of the CCP, recognize the truth, and understand that the repression of the CCP will eventually fall upon every Chinese person,” she said passionately. “In China, the people can no longer survive; Chinese people must choose to stand against the CCP. This is our only way out!”
