In between May 26 and 28, some overseas democracy activists launched a fierce protest near the United Nations headquarters and outside the residence of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
This May, as China assumed the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, Wang Yi took the opportunity to attend events in New York. On the 28th, he chaired a meeting of the “Friends of Global Governance” group and planned to hold a Global Governance Forum in the Xiong’an New Area in September this year. Protesters shouted slogans such as “The CCP does not represent China, the communist bandits get out of the United Nations.”
Democracy activist Zhao Yan pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party’s purpose of this trip is to take advantage of the United States’ reduction of UN funding and weaken its position, expand its influence in this organization, and achieve the goal of manipulating the United Nations. By hosting the Global Governance Forum in the Xiong’an New Area in September this year, they aim to promote China’s communist political ideology and governance model.
Jie Li Jian exposed that behind Wang Yi’s promotion of medical and industrial cooperation at the United Nations lies significant human rights and political risks. He particularly warned that cooperation in areas such as psychiatric hospitals, organ transplants, and medical research and development may allow the Chinese Communist Party to use foreign technology for crimes such as organ harvesting and human rights violations. He also criticized the CCP for coercing technology transfer from foreign capital, establishing party branches, and using administrative means to pressure a large number of Taiwanese and American-European companies to withdraw.
Additionally, Wei Li Bin and others expressed outrage that in recent years China has been plagued by disasters and the people living in difficult conditions, yet the CCP is plundering the people’s wealth to engage in international money diplomacy and bribe small countries, labeling the CCP as real traitors.
During the protest, Chinese security personnel snatched a satirical portrait of Xi Jinping made by democracy activists, leading to a dispute between the two sides.
