Several schoolchildren were hit by a car in Misato City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan on the 14th, in a hit-and-run incident, leaving four boys injured to varying degrees. Japanese authorities investigated and determined that at the time of the accident, there were two individuals in the car, and the owner of the vehicle, a Chinese man, was likely the driver who fled the scene and remains missing.
According to a report by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), on the evening of the 14th, an SUV drove into a group of around 10 elementary school students on their way home from school, causing injuries to four boys before fleeing. The police are now investigating in the direction of a hit-and-run accident involving a driver.
Reportedly, the four injured boys are all sixth-grade elementary school students, with one potentially suffering from a compound fracture in his right foot, while the other three sustained minor injuries.
After the accident, the SUV made multiple turns and escaped through a residential area before being discovered on the 15th in a parking lot at the employee dormitory of a company 2 kilometers away from the accident scene. The vehicle has since been impounded by the Japanese police.
Authorities learned through their investigation that there were two individuals, both Chinese men, in the car at the time of the accident, with the driver who caused the accident currently missing.
Sources involved in the investigation revealed that the residence of the other Chinese man who was in the car during the accident has been identified by the police and he has been questioned by authorities.
