Mainland Community Calls Female Residents Frequently to Inquire About Pregnancy, Suspected of Pressuring Childbirth

Before the May Day holiday in cities like Chongqing and Chengdu, many netizens received calls from community health service centers on social platforms, inquiring about pregnancy, menstrual period, and other privacy issues, leading to suspicions that they were being urged to have children.

According to reports from Dingdu News, a resident of Chengdu, Sichuan named Li Hua (pseudonym) recently received a call from the community health service center asking about pregnancy status, including whether there were any plans for pregnancy and the timing of the menstrual period. Not only the community health service center, but also the street office made similar inquiries, with Li having received several such calls in the past few months.

Unmarried resident Yang Jing (pseudonym) from Chongqing also encountered a similar situation. Yang Jing mentioned being asked about the menstrual period and pregnancy status right at the beginning of the call, without any explanation or understanding of personal circumstances. Yang Jing suspected being categorized into the age-appropriate marriage and childbearing population list, hence receiving such “urging to have children” calls, raising concerns about the violation of personal privacy.

Reports indicate that the topic of “community calls for childbirth” has generated over a thousand posts on social platforms, involving IP locations in several provinces such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Hubei, Jiangsu, and Anhui.

The CCP’s decades-long family planning policy has dealt a devastating blow to the Chinese population. Mainland media previously reported that as early as 2019, netizens complained about being urged to have children via “street office phone calls”. Recently, the topic of “urging to have children” has once again sparked public attention.

Netizens have questioned, “Has the community also joined the urging for childbirth army?” “Blatant infringement of rights!” “Establishing a community is to penetrate into every detail, wanting to know the size of underwear in minutes, last time the street office called for post deletion, identity card, workplace, home address, family members, everything clear.”

“Whether to have children is purely a personal matter. The country can reduce the life pressure of the people by improving national welfare security, thereby boosting the fertility rate. Having children is not just for adding a laborer, but an additional valuable life that can lead a happy life!”

“It used to be family planning, and now it’s still family planning, just in reverse.” “First abolish the family planning law, then compensate each couple forced to have only one child with 100,000 yuan, and then we’ll talk.”
