End of the Two Sessions of the CCP: Some Interviewees Still Under Control or Missing

The Two Sessions of the Chinese Communist Party have ended, but there are still some petitioners who are experiencing restrictions on their personal freedom or have gone missing.

Petitioner Jiang Jiawen from Dandong, Liaoning Province, traveled to Shanghai on February 17. He stayed at the home of petitioner Zheng LiKui for three days and then, for safety reasons, moved to the residence of retired teacher Guo Guoping, as recommended by him. On February 23, Jiang Jiawen was arrested by Song Chengyin, director of the Yuanbao District Public Security Sub-Bureau in Dandong City, along with Liu Yunpeng, director of the Qidao Police Station in the Yuanbao District, and four others. They captured Jiang Jiawen while he was staying in an empty house owned by Zhangen Di in Jiahaiyuan Community, Lane 381, Building 1, Room 503, Jiayuanguan Road, Jiading District.

Upon returning to Dandong, he was detained for 15 days on charges of provocation and troublemaking, and was released on March 13.

Recently, Jiang Jiawen told a reporter from Epoch Times, “While I was in Shanghai, without any illegal activities, I found a reposted article from January 7 in a private WeChat message, claiming that my detention for fifteen days was due to illegal content attacking the government. It’s a case of adding an offense without explicitly stating it.”

Jiang Jiawen also revealed that after completing his detention, he was taken to a hotel (black jail) for further house arrest, restricting his personal freedom. He said, “They have not allowed me to leave the city for more than a decade, and have forbidden me from leaving the city or entering Beijing. When friends visited Dandong and wanted me to accompany them to North Korea, the authorities refused to issue me a passport, almost like being controlled as a spy.”

Shanghai petitioner Cui Qun from Hongkou District has been missing since local government officials intercepted her on March 4. Her sister Cui Hong has been making daily appeals online. She stated that in order to ensure the personal safety of human rights defenders, she urged relevant departments to pay attention and requested fellow rights activists to show concern and raise awareness.

Cui Qun has been advocating for her rights after her property was illegally confiscated without proper compensation according to the surrounding market value in 2015. She was deprived of the principle of being resettled nearby.

Around 4 am on March 2, she was intercepted by ten individuals at the Dezhou Service Area in Shandong Province while traveling on a long-distance bus. She was then taken back to Shanghai and arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station around 11:14 am, escorted by four unidentified individuals from Hongkou District in a bread van with the license plate number Su E-KⅩ491.

At 12:16 pm on March 2, the police from the Jiading Police Station in Hongkou District notified Cui Hong, Cui Qun’s sister. However, by 1:10 pm, Cui Hong was unable to reach Cui Qun, and she has been missing ever since.

Epoch Times reporters have tried to contact Cui Qun’s phone and leave messages on her social media accounts, but there has been no response.

Shanghai petitioner Shao Min from Jinshan District was taken away by the director of the Jinshan District Petition Office, the director of her residential community committee, and several unidentified individuals at the Adora Hotel in Panjiayuan, Beijing on March 7. Shao Min has been missing since then.

The Epoch Times reporter attempted to call Shao Min’s phone, but there was no answer.

Wang Ronghua, a 71-year-old petitioner from Hongkou District in Shanghai, was intercepted on March 7 at a checkpoint in Daxing District, Beijing, and sent back to Shanghai, where she subsequently went missing. Wang Ronghua has various health issues, including diabetes and multiple strokes, causing great concern for her family regarding her safety.

Epoch Times reporters tried to call Wang Ronghua’s phone, but it has been consistently turned off.

Furthermore, Chen Dashu, a petitioner from Xinha Village, Mujun Town, in Yubei District, Chongqing, was kidnapped by unidentified individuals after having dinner at a restaurant in Picun, Chaoyang District in Beijing on the evening of March 1. He was later held captive in an underground basement in the Nanyuan Fanjiazhuang area of Fengtai District, Beijing.

Epoch Times reporters attempted to call Chen Dashu’s phone but were unable to connect.
