Brazilian Infant Dies, Revives 16 Hours Later, Dies Again After Being Sent to Hospital.

A story that captured global attention recently emerged from Brazil, where an 8-month-old baby girl was pronounced dead by medical staff, only to miraculously wake up 16 hours later at her own funeral. Despite being rushed to the hospital for emergency care, the young infant ultimately could not be saved. She was declared dead once again, marking her second death.

According to a report by the UK’s “Daily Star,” this incident took place on October 19 in the city of Correia Pinto in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Earlier that day, the infant girl named Kiara Crislayne de Moura dos Santos was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Just two hours later, funeral director Aureo Arruda Ramos received Santos’ body from the hospital. Ramos began making arrangements for Santos’ funeral with her parents, who even bought clothes for her to wear inside the coffin.

At 7 p.m. that evening, 16 hours after Santos had been declared dead, her funeral commenced. However, some attendees noticed movement in her hand during the service, leading to a disruption in the proceedings. When one person touched her fingers, she tightly grasped their hand.

A pharmacist on-site discovered that she was still breathing and immediately called for help. After being rushed to the hospital, medical staff found that she still had a pulse, although her blood oxygen saturation was at 84% and she needed to be admitted to the intensive care unit. There were no signs of rigor mortis, which typically occurs 6 to 8 hours after death.

However, this heartbreaking turn of events took yet another tragic twist. Despite briefly showing signs of life, Santos ultimately passed away at the hospital, once again being pronounced dead.

Her devastated father expressed that while there had been a glimmer of hope during their immense grief, it was ultimately dashed.

The “death and resurrection” incident has drawn the attention and scrutiny of Brazil’s forensic investigators. The Correia Pinto city government has issued an apology to Santos’ family and pledged to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident, with a report expected within 30 days.

A spokesperson for the city government stated, “The Correia Pinto city government reiterates its commitment to providing the best care for all residents, emphasizing that in any circumstance, no healthcare professional should issue certificates or statements without proper assessment of the patient’s condition.”

Furthermore, the spokesperson emphasized that all healthcare professionals must undergo regular guidance and training to ensure that the preservation of people’s lives and well-being remains a top priority.

This event echoes a similar incident in Santa Catarina, Brazil last year involving a 90-year-old woman who died twice.

In a previous report by Epoch Times, on November 24, 2023, an elderly woman named Norma Silveira da Silva was brought to a hospital for emergency care due to liver problems. She was pronounced dead by doctors and sent to the morgue. However, she was later discovered alive in the morgue. Despite being quickly transferred back to the hospital room, she passed away shortly thereafter. As a result of her double death, two death certificates were issued by the doctors.
