On Monday, September 2nd, a multiple-car crash occurred involving the convoy of Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota and Democratic vice-presidential candidate. Fortunately, Walz himself was not injured in the accident.
The incident took place at 12:57 local time on Highway 794 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
According to a tweet from Emily Fannon, a reporter from CBS 58 accompanying Walz, two individuals were taken to a nearby hospital as a result of the crash.
The reporter stated that initially, a news van rear-ended a van in front of it, and then another van behind collided with them. The occupants in the news van were thrown forward due to the impact, resulting in one staff member fracturing their arm and being hospitalized.
Additionally, other journalists sustained minor cuts and bruises from the collision.
From images shared by Fannon at the scene, one van had damage to its front end, while another showed a dented rear door. Fannon’s right leg was also wrapped in a bandage, and reports indicate that her cameraperson and others were injured as well.
Following the accident, journalists and staff members switched to a new vehicle and continued on to join Walz at his event. The cause of the accident remains unclear.
It is reported that the vehicle carrying Walz and his wife was not damaged, and they proceeded to their scheduled campaign event location.
On Sunday, Walz attended the Minnesota State Fair. He was originally set to meet with union officials in Milwaukee on Labor Day afternoon as part of his campaign activities.
