“The movie ‘Inside Out 2’ has brought in $1.559 billion in profits from theaters, with the previous film on Disney+ surpassing 1 billion views and generating 1.3 million registrations. This massive success has exceeded Wall Street’s expectations for Disney’s third-quarter financial report, and the film is set to be released on digital platforms in August.
According to reports from ‘Deadline’ and ‘Kidscreen,’ ‘Inside Out 2’ made a significant contribution to Disney after its release on June 14. Since the release of its trailer, the original 2015 film ‘Inside Out’ on Disney+ has been viewed globally over 1 billion times, bringing in 1.3 million registrations in that quarter alone. This has helped Disney’s streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+) achieve profitability for the first time.
The entertainment sector (including films, television, and streaming services) reported a revenue of $1.2 billion for the quarter. Disney’s streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, turned a profit, achieving $47 million in revenue in the third quarter, compared to a loss of $512 million in the same period last year.
To increase profits, Disney announced on the 6th that they will raise the prices of most streaming service packages starting in October.
Data from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) shows that Disney’s adjusted earnings per share reached $1.39 for the third quarter, higher than analysts’ expectations of $1.19. Disney’s total revenue grew by 4% to $23.2 billion, exceeding the expected $23.1 billion. Operating income also increased by 19% to $4.2 billion compared to the same period last year.
On the big screen, Pixar’s ‘Inside Out 2’ has become the highest-grossing animated film globally and in the United States, as well as the top-performing film of the year, ranking tenth in global box office history across all genres. It has doubled the revenue of Disney’s entertainment sector, with earnings in the third quarter rising from $408 million in the third quarter of 2023 to $1.2 billion.
According to reports from ‘Entertainment Weekly’ and ‘WhenToStream,’ ‘Inside Out 2’ is scheduled to be available for purchase or rental on premium video on demand (PVOD), Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, VUDU, and other streaming platforms starting on August 20. The DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray versions will be released on September 10.
‘Inside Out 2’ will only be available on Disney+ 100 days after its theatrical release.”
