The World Taiwanese United Foundation (STUF) “UN Go!” Global Training Program is helping young people from Taiwan and abroad understand Taiwan and international issues. It will once again hold a series of activities on July 9 and 10, inviting former Vice President and former Premier Chen Chien-jen to visit New York to attend a dinner at the Sheraton Flushing Hotel on July 9 in support of the “STUF UN Go!” program.
The “UN Go!” program, initiated by STUF in 2023, aims to deepen the understanding of UN-related issues and Taiwan’s participation in the international community among young Taiwanese and students as well as NGO workers. This year, the STUF Foundation is expanding the “UN Go!” global training program to further strengthen the connection between youth and international issues, nurturing talents that are more globally engaged.
In the series of events, STUF has invited former Vice President and Premier Chen Chien-jen to visit New York and participate in the program. Chen previously made a remote keynote speech as Premier at the “World Health Organization International Forum” held by STUF in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2023, sharing Taiwan’s successful efforts in combating the pandemic.
On July 10, “UN Go!” will host a peripheral meeting in conjunction with the United Nations Sustainable Development High-Level Political Forum at Nomadworks Times Square, focusing on the topic: “Unveiling Geopolitical Ripples: Assessing the Impact of the Ukraine War on the Risk Landscape of the Asia-Pacific Region and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.” Speakers include legislator Shen Boyang, Dr. Liberator Bautista, President of the CoNGO, Secretary-General Li Yung-choon of the International Cooperation Development Foundation, and Dr. Tsai Jung-tsang, who led a team of Taiwanese doctors to Ukraine for medical missions and training.
STUF’s “UN Go!” global training program has received support from renowned Taiwanese artist Lin Shi-bao, who has generously donated 100 personal artworks to serve as rewards for donations of $250. Additionally, Lin has created three special pieces titled “The Sunflower Blooms Again,” “The Sound of Victory,” and “Creating Peace Bells Project,” each valued at $2,000 and available for auction by STUF at a minimum price of $1,000. Donors contributing $500 will also receive a high-end fashion Tzuchien bag, known as the Taiwan LV bag, and a thank-you card signed by former Vice President and Premier Chen Chien-jen. The Tzuchien bag was designed and sponsored by the President of the Swiss Taiwanese Business Association, Hsieh Jin.
STUF cordially invites young people and friends from all walks of life to participate in the July series of activities of “2024 UN Go!”, to collectively care about global issues, cultivate international insights and diplomatic soft power, and propel Taiwan onto the world stage.
