Recently in China, a deputy director of a public security sub-bureau in Guizhou Province openly reported the Secretary of the Bijie City Committee. Following this, a police station director in Hebei Province publicly accused Liu Wenning, the director of the Xinglong County Public Security Bureau, of “seven sins,” sparking attention.
According to the related videos, Su Jiulei, the director of the police station in Liudaohe Town, Xinglong County, Chengde City, Hebei Province, accused the local deputy county head and public security bureau director Liu Wenning of alleged serious violations of law and discipline, including acting as a protector for criminal gangs, engaging in extensive bribery, engaging in power and money transactions, monopolizing decisions, severely disrupting the business environment, forming cliques, borrowing money from companies in violation of regulations, and leading a corrupt life.
The whistleblower claimed that there is a significant amount of audio and written evidence supporting the allegations.
In public information, on April 29 of this year, Liu Wenning, the deputy county head and director of the public security bureau in Xinglong County, stated at a meeting, “To control one’s desires, restrain personal desires, resist indulgence, and ward off temptation.”
On mainland Chinese social media platform Weibo, some netizens questioned why Su Jiulei, the police station director, chose to report through online channels. They raised concerns that if even a police station director cannot handle corruption through proper channels, how can ordinary citizens report such misconduct effectively?
Others commented that even those in positions of power resort to public exposure through the media to take action, making it challenging for common people, especially farmers, to address such issues through official channels.
Just a month ago, Shen Chenggang, the former executive deputy director of the Qixingguan Sub-bureau of the Bijie City Public Security Bureau in Guizhou Province, released a video report. Shen, who had worked in the public security system for decades, expressed shock at being wrongly charged with criminal responsibility and sentenced to two and a half years in prison based on false testimonies.
Shen Chenggang believed that his wrongful imprisonment was related to Zhou Jiankun, the former Secretary of the Bijie City Committee and the Vice Chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Political Consultative Conference. He disclosed that Zhou Jiankun intervened in his case, instructing Shen Chenggang to release a suspect involved in intentional injury, unlawful detention, and deliberate destruction of a company’s financial assets. When Shen Chenggang refused, Zhou Jiankun retaliated against him.
Furthermore, in the same video, Cao Xuanxiang, the prosecutor of the Qixingguan District Procuratorate in Bijie City at the time, testified that he falsely accused Shen Chenggang due to relentless interrogation and coercion by senior investigators for more than twenty days.
