On July 22, mainland Chinese actor Hu Ge and his wife Huang Xin Ning were closely followed and photographed by passengers on a civil aviation flight. Upon noticing this, Huang quickly stepped forward to shield her husband and politely signaled to reject the filming, sparking a discussion among netizens about the privacy rights of public figures.
Hu Ge recently took a flight with his wife, only to have Huang Xin Ning play a “protective” role in the cabin.
A video recording inside the cabin of a civil aviation flight on July 22 went viral on Chinese social media. The person filming happened to encounter Hu Ge and his wife Huang Xin Ning on the same flight and began closely following them for an extended period. In the footage, Hu Ge appeared low-key and sharp, wearing a pure black sports-style baseball cap pulled down to his eyebrows, a face mask covering the lower part of his face, a plain cotton white T-shirt on the upper body, and matte khaki casual pants on the lower body. He was seen sorting out his carry-on bag on the overhead luggage rack alone, without any assistants or security personnel accompanying him.
Upon realizing the presence of the camera, Huang Xin Ning calmly stepped forward to shield her husband with her body, smiling gently and raising her right hand to signal a pause in the filming. She spoke gently, saying, “This is our private journey, thank you for your understanding, and please respect each other’s space.”
The incident quickly became a hot topic, triggering polarized debates among netizens.
Supporters of Huang Xin Ning believe that even public figures should have their privacy respected during personal travels which do not fall under public work agendas. The cabin is considered a relatively enclosed private space for travel, and prolonged close-up filming of faces violates both image rights and privacy. Huang Xin Ning, while protecting her family, also handled the situation with dignity and respect towards the photographers.
However, some netizens argue that airports and civil aviation cabins are public places, and casually taking pictures of celebrities for social media is a common behavior as long as there is no clear malicious intent or profit motives, and there is no need to be overly sensitive.
Hu Ge has been known to protect the privacy of his family strictly, never revealing his children’s faces while out with them. Huang Xin Ning’s restrained handling of the situation gained approval and support from many netizens for advocating “rational fandom” and respecting the private lives of celebrities.
Huang Xin Ning joined Hu Ge’s team in 2015 as a styling assistant and worked her way up to become an executive manager in seven years. Within the industry, she is known as “Manager Huang.” On January 31, 2023, Hu Ge suddenly announced on Weibo, “I have become a father, mother and daughter are safe.” It was later revealed to the public that Hu Ge’s daughter is nicknamed “Xiao Mo Li.” In 2025, Huang Xin Ning gave birth to their second child, a son, making Hu Ge a father of two.
Huang Xin Ning’s care for Hu Ge has transitioned from being a “trusted work partner” to a “full-time family support.” Previously working as an executive manager, she handled Hu Ge’s daily business communications and event arrangements, always taking the lead in shielding him from the camera and pushing luggage in public occasions or at airports. Even after marriage, when appearing with Hu Ge, she maintained her professional habits, actively leading the way and reminding Hu Ge to watch his step on stairs.
Hu Ge has openly stated that his post-marriage family life is harmonious and happy, with his wife managing the household efficiently, allowing him to focus on his career without worries.
